Longford's Derek Burnett is competing now in the trap shooting. He is just five points off the lead.
Derek Burnett hasn't started yet, waiting on other competitors to finish first, but he needs almost perfection today to make it into the final.
Derval O'Rourke is up in about 20 minutes in the first round of the women's 100m hurdles.
There are four athletes in Derval's heat who have run quicker than the Cork woman this season.
I'm feeling very nervous today. And I think it's Annalise Murphy I'm most nervous for. It would be gutting for her not to medal having led for almost all of the Laser Radial event. I think she will but it might not be gold. In fairness, you'd have to be very confident about Katie Taylor.
A false start in the first heat by the runner from Mali and she is taken away.
The first heat of the women's 100m hurdles is won with a time of 12.71 seconds.
The Belarus runner beats her personal best to win that heat.
@Daragh Ă ConchĂșir Yeah, I can see maybe Annalise's relative lack of experience denying her the gold, but I think she will medal. For some reason I am very nervous about Katie's fight.
The second heat, run by only six athletes, is won in 13.09 seconds by the Austrian runner.
@Peter Towe I understand that because I have been for about 18 months, the way it has been just presumed. She has coped spectacularly with the pressure to date but I really feared that something would go wrong. In the last 24 hours my confidence has grown though. She's the best.
@Daragh Ă ConchĂșir I agree she is the best, but the British crowd, and the inconsistency of the judges has me biting my nails.
For those of you wondering, Derek Burnett still hasn't started. Will update you when he does.
The third heat of the 100m hurdles sees some strong contenders, Kellie Wells from USA and Natalya Ivoninskaya of Kazakhstan.
Kellie Wells wins with a time of 12.70 seconds. The Kazakh runner was nowhere near qualifying.
The judges put up that Lina Florez of Colombia has won that heat. They have that one wrong.
While Derek Burnett was only five points off the lead yesterday, that's actually miles. Michael Diamond the leader has not missed once. Derek would need to start recording 25s from here on to medal.
