Best of luck to Rob Heffernan. He would be disappointed with anything outside the top 10. Colin Griffin has worked very hard too though and will be looking for a big run. Brendan Boyce makes it a very strong team of three.
A cool morning for the men's 50k walk along The Mall. Rob Heffernan, Colin Griffin and Brendan Boyce are the three who have entered the fray. Still somewhat chilly, the Irish walkers had a month of warm weather training in the south of Spain for when things hot up later.

5K the Heff in the 2nd pack, 15th, two Russians leading it out who didnt finish the 20K

News coming in that Andrzej JEZIERSKI has won the B Final of the C1 200m canoe sprint, meaning he finishes seventh overall.
Big split in the lead bunch - it's now two groups of seven and five respectively, before Heffernan and his two chums come through 13th-15th.
At 10k, Colin Griffin is 33rd, Brendan Boyce 54th.

Andres Chocho of Ecuador has fouled out already - he had been in the leading twelve. Now, they start to fall.

Well done to Andrzej Jezierski, who won the B final of the C1 canoe sprint (200m). That places him ninth, a pretty magnificent finish for a man who had effectively not competed for six years until 2011.
